Real Men Read is a way to encourage young men to read and to aspire toward a lifelong love of reading. Throughout the year men from the community volunteer their time to go read to local elementary schools. The goal of this program is to improve literacy skills, reading confidence and testing performance, as well as providing positive role models in the classroom.

The City of Griffin and the Griffin Environmental Council honored 30 years of Arbor Day Friday by planting trees, as well as giving away small, bare-root trees to be planted.
