Real Men Read is a way to encourage young men to read and to aspire toward a lifelong love of reading. Throughout the year men from the community volunteer their time to go read to local elementary schools. The goal of this program is to improve literacy skills, reading confidence and testing performance, as well as providing positive role models in the classroom.
Leaders from GSCS and throughout the community spend time in our elementary schools showing students that “Real Men Read.” This event is coordinated by Griffin-Spalding Board of Education and the Griffin-Spalding County School System. These men read to students in grades pre-k-5 to show that reading is cool and affirm that it is a perfectly good idea to put aside the basketball, football, phone or video game controller from time to time and read a book instead. #RealMenRead
