The Mayor’s role as an elected strategic authority is to promote economic development and wealth creation, social development, and improvement of the environment in Griffin. The Mayor also has various other duties in relation to culture and tourism, including a responsibility for the city and its government.

Douglas S. Hollberg currently serves as Mayor for the City of Griffin. Originally elected as the At- Large City Commissioner in 2004, Doug served as Commission Chairman in 2008, 2015, and 2018.

In 2020, Doug won the first public election for Mayor, and currently seeks re-election to continue his leadership for Griffin. Doug and his family operate Hollberg Properties, a small family business.

Since 2014, Doug has also served as an Independent Insurance Agent at Rivers Insurance.

As a youth growing up in Griffin, Doug learned the values of hard work and leadership playing sports and earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

In 1990, Doug graduated from North Georgia College, The Military College of Georgia (one of only 6 Senior Military Colleges in the United States), earning a Bachelor of Business degree. In 2000, he also became a graduate of Leadership Georgia.

Doug has been married for 33 years to the former Pamela Joy Parsons of Washington, GA. They are members of First Baptist Church of Griffin and have two adult children.
